Sports & Leisure

Active in Einbeck and surroundings

Einbeck is surrounded by a diverse nature. It is wonderful to be active in these surroundings. Set out to explore them by hiking, running or by bike – it is well worthwhile! Our two cycling routes and numerous hiking trails in our large municipal district (Einbeck counts with 46 villages) are well signposted. They take you by bike or on foot through soft, beautiful hilly countryside along wide fields and meadows, through the enchanted Leine village with the bird sanctuary Leine polder and fairy-tale woods.

Do you like water sports? The large Northeim lake district is well-connected to Einbeck by car or by bike. Paddleboat tours, sailing, stand-up paddling or swimming – there are a lot of different opportunities! Various nice indoor and outdoor pools are lovingly maintained.

Or are you in the mood to challenge each other at our mini-golf course at the ramparts or playing golf on our beautiful golf course, in a tennis match or at skittles?

Cycling

Get on your bike and off you go!

A cycling tour through the fields, along the river Leine or across the hills? The countryside in our Leine valley is very diverse just the same as the cycling routes on offer. Whether taking the short one-day route of 25 kilometres or the long version, there is a route for everyone.

Einbeck is located at the long-distance cycling routes Leine-Heide cycling route as well as the Europe cycling route R1 or rather D-route 3 – from the Münsterland to the river Oder.

The cycling guest is king at Einbeck, because nine accommodation businesses in the region have been awarded by the Allgemeinen Deutschen Fahrrad-Club (ADFC; German cycling club): Bed & bike accommodation dispose of bike storage opportunities with locks, take cycling guests also just overnight, over a rich breakfast and put cycling maps and reparation sets at the guest’s disposal.

So, get on your bike and into nature!

Walking & Hiking

Refreshing greens in and around Einbeck

Are you in the mood to refresh yourself in the green from time to time? Just have a little stroll along our beautiful ramparts that were, together with the long town wall, once part of the town’s fortifications to protect Einbeck from enemies. Or would you like to rest your legs and relax in between visiting the PS.SPEICHER and taking a city tour? We recommend to have a break on one of the many comfortable benches at our enchanted duck ponds, in the picturesque Collegiate Gardens or the modern-designed Stukenbrokpark. Just sit down and enjoy tranquillity right in the middle of the city.

Maybe you have some more time and would like to go a little further away and hike in our idyllic, diverse surroundings. For example, you can discover the Hube, our city forest: Wide, comfortable trails and small, exciting paths cross the forest. We can offer you conscious wood bathing or guided walks.

For everyone looking for more action: Come to our yearly running event! Every year in May the beer city run attracts young and old runners to Einbeck.

On & in the water

Are you in the mood for a refreshing bath?

Einbeck is located nearly exactly in the middle of Germany – so, if you spend your vacation in our region, you are some distance away from the North and the Baltic Sea. However, you do not have to go without water sports and swimming! Two idyllic rivers run through our municipal district, the Leine and the Ilme – you can go canoeing on both rivers.

If that’s too much natural water for you: We lovingly maintain our nice indoor and outdoor swimming pool with salt chamber. Apart from our local swimming pools in Einbeck’s region, there is also a great choice of fun baths to spend time on dull-weather-days in cooler months. Click here to learn more.

If you want to be outside in nature: In close proximity you will find the large Northeim lake district where you can have fun in paddling boats, sailing, swimming, getting on a stand-up paddling board and a lot more. Small but lovely, that’s the natural swimming pool in Lauenberg.

And here we have something for the ones who like to go fishing: There are a lot of sheltered spots where you will catch something for sure!

Further sports and leisure opportunities

Everything about balls and rackets

Mini-golf is a lot of fun and is a good distraction for all generations. Of course, you will also find a mini-golf course in Einbeck. It is idyllically located between the town wall and the rampart just outside the Old Town – you can take you time challenging each other. Who will need the least hits to enter the ball into the whole? Or you visit our beautiful golf course just above the Leine polder and enjoy the air and view whilst playing golf. There are also trial courses on offer.

You can also play tennis in Einbeck: Outside or in the hall – according to weather and time of the year. If you like it a bit more rustic, maybe you will find our skittles place interesting. Or you would like to aim high? Airfield Bad Gandersheim is very close to Einbeck!
