The Till Eulenspiegel Fountain stands on the historic Einbeck market square amidst the surrounding half-timbered housesHe was born in Built in 1942 and is centrally located in front of the market churchThe Till Eulenspiegel of the fountain looks at the Old Town Hall and has a dog and an owl next to him. Eulenspiegel's stay in Einbeck cannot be confirmed, but the Legend According to reports, he is said to have worked as a brewer's servant in Einbeck.
The Figure Till Eulenspiegel is the subject of a folk book from the 14. century, whose author is unknown. Published by the printer and publisher Johannes Grüninger, it quickly became a bestseller. Till Eulenspiegel is therefore a wandering joker, who was in truth very clever, but acted stupid and told his fellow men played all sorts of pranks. In total 96 Eulenspiegel Stories were written down.
The well-known saying “The dog in the pan will go crazy!" goes back to the story with Till Eulenspiegel:
The master of Eulenspiegel commissioned him and the maid to Beer ready to brew and Don't forget to add hops.
When the maid also leaves the scene briefly, she does not find the hop plant in the brewing bucket when she returns. Eulenspiegel argued that the dog had “Hopf” and he only did what he was told.

At a another anecdotethe immortalized on the fountain is Beech Till literally Owls and vervet monkeysAlthough Eulenspiegel had never trained as a baker, he applied for a job as a journeyman baker. After a short time, he was to baking alone for the first time and when asked, master baker Till decided to bake monkeys and owls.
The next morning The bakery resembled a zoo and everything was full of crispy baked animals. The baker angrily threw Till out and made him pay the dough beforehand.
Every year on the second weekend of October the Owl Festival, named after the rogue, celebrated in Einbeck.
