Manufacturer August Stukenbrok had a mansion built in the area of the former town wall.

The former Stukenbrok mansion, a private mansion with art nouveau windows, houses the Mendelssohn school of music today.

August Stukenbrok was born in 1867 and founded his company August Stukenbrok Einbeck (ASTE) in 1888. The company manufactured bycicles and was the first established mail-order business in Germany. Opposite the office at Ostertor, where Einbeck´s New Town Hall is now, August Stukenbrok settled down in the mansion with the beautiful art nouveau windows.
