One Night Of Dire Straits - Tribute Show
“30 years later” tour
Dire Straits were a band of superlatives.
Our Mark Knopfler Instantly recognizable by his distinctive guitar playing and deep voice, they managed to rise from small bar concerts to the biggest stages on the planet in just under a decade.
As a counterpoint to the then-popular punk rock, the perpetually cash-strapped ("Dire Straits") musicians with their many musical influences led only a brief niche existence until they developed in record time into one of the most famous and successful bands in music history, selling over 120 million records in their career.
With "Sultans of SwingThey achieved their breakthrough in the late 1970s, placing Mark Knopfler at the forefront as singer, composer, and above all, guitarist. The group reached its zenith in the mid-1980s with the song "Money For Nothing," a collaboration with fellow Geordie musician Sting.
But the success and the immense pressure of expectations took too high a toll on the musicians involved. After the success of the final album, “On Every Street“(38 x Platinum worldwide) and the world tour of the same name from 1991-1992 with a total of 229 concerts, Mark Knopfler announced in 1995 that the band would henceforth be inactive and would no longer play public concerts.
This final phase is now the focus of the tribute show "One Night of Dire Straits," 30 years later. Guitarist and singer Alex Moll, together with his exquisitely assembled band of live and studio musicians, takes the audience on a journey full of captivating and handcrafted music.
With a song selection that leaves nothing to be desired, “One Night of Dire Straits” guarantees an outstanding concert evening for all fans of Mark Knopfler, Dire Straits and handmade music that immediately gets stuck in your head.
